A Special Gift

We received many wonderful gifts upon and after Sidney's arrival. Gifts that were practical, creative, handmade, beautiful, and/or just plain cute. All greatly appreciated and simply wonderful. We got one I thought was very unique and special from Bailey's cousin Alisha and her husband Brian (and their soon-to-be-born baby girl Bryleigh Kate). This is a picture of the poem I read before opening the rest of the gift. (Warning: it may bring tears to your eyes!!)

We were given this beautiful knife that we will use every year on Sidney's birthday and that she will one day use at her wedding. (It brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it!)

And just because, here's another picture of that sweet baby girl.....

One Month

Weight: Not too sure--a week and a half ago, Sidney weighed 9 lb 3 oz.
Height: Not real sure--Bailey and I measured her being about 21 1/4 in.   We go for our next appointment in about 3 weeks.
Clothing Size:  Mostly 0-3 month clothes. There are a few "larger" newborn outfits that she can still wear.
Diapers: Size 1
Feeding: We're eating about 7 times a day now. We nurse for 6 of those and have pumped milk out of a bottle for the other one. Sidney typically takes 3-4 oz from the bottle.
Hair/Eyes: There haven't been any real changes in Sidney's hair or eyes. It's still brown, with more in the back. The scab/bruise on the crown of her head is mostly gone now. Sidney's eyes are still dark grey/blue.
Sleep: Sidney is a good sleeper.  There has only been one night that she woke up more than once between 11 pm and 5 am. The last few nights we have put her down about 10:30/11 pm and woken her up about 5:30 am.
Fun Stuff:
-Sidney is starting to hold her head up more.
-She is starting to smile and make other faces.
-She has discovered her tongue and loves to stick it out and play with it.
-She enjoys sitting in the bouncy seat for little stretches at a time.
-During some of her "nap" times, she just lays in her crib wide awake, but as content as can be.
-She HATES having her nose suctioned clean--she starts crying bloody murder and turns as red as can be.
-Bailey and I had our first "outing" without Sidney. My mom, "Grandma," kept Sidney while we went to a Redbirds game with our Sunday School class.

Three Weeks

Sidney has had a few more outings this week. She's gone to work with Bailey a few times so that I can get out and run a few errands. I took her to school on Friday so I could help Courtney pack up our room some. On Saturday we went to A'fair. She slept the whole time, despite it being as hot as it was.

We went for another weight check this week and Sidney weighed in at 9 lb. 3 oz. They were pleased with her growth so we won't go back for another few weeks.
Sidney has started to pick her head up here and there. She has started to grin some (or, we think she is, anyways).

Nonnie came and kept Sidney on Sunday morning so that Bailey and I could go to church together.
There are many times when I go to check on Sidney a little bit after I've put her down for a nap, and the above picture is what I find. She's just laying there looking around, sometimes kicking her legs and moving those arms, but she is as content as she can be.
