A Day in Our Life: Summer

Here goes a fairly typical day in our life this summer....
This isn't so typical....where's Sidney???
Bedhead...always.
Breakfast today is eggs, sausage, applesauce, and milk (with our babydoll, of course). ((And, it's a cooked breakfast because I'd been to KB's cardio class at 5:30)).
After breakfast, Sidney gets her vitamin and then heads to the couch to watch an episode of Mickey Mouse while I do my devotional and/or whatever else needs to be done...like today, I worked on my first Melaleuca order.
She just discovered she could take her booster seat and sit it on the couch.
After mama did her thing and SK did hers, it was time to try out some new popsicles. We tried out a recipe for Nutella and banana popsicles. She LOVES helping me make things.
Then we had some playtime in her room. We tried reading some of her Hello Highlights books but by the time you start in one, she's pulling out the next one!
Next we put on some clothes and went outside for a little bit. We "painted" with water on the driveway. She really liked it! ((Thank you Pinterest!))
Lunchtime came (and we'd lost our clothes by this point). I've been trying to come up with some different things with what we have left in the kitchen...so, today is homemade pizza on a tortilla along with some orange and a carrot that is mostly there for looks (well, she'll eat some of the ranch off of it.)
After lunch SK requested to color so that's just what we did before she took her nap. While she got her nap, I worked around the house and got my daily dose of Grey's Anatomy.
Naptime is over. We ate popcorn while watching Beauty and the Beast. Bailey went to play golf with some of the guys from our Sunday School class so SK and I had a small dinner before heading outside to test out our popsicles.
I bought this little princess table with umbrella and chairs from a friend on Facebook and SK just LOVES it!. She also loved those popsicles!
We finished our popsicles, played a little more outside and then headed in to get a bath and get ready for bed.

Minnie Mouse

A couple Saturdays ago, Katie and I went to a couple garage sales. We didn't find a whole lot but I did have one lucky find...a Minnie Mouse dress and ears. I put it out of sight and then got it out this past Saturday. SK was in LOVE. She spent the whole day in it.
The cutest Minnie you'll ever see.
Over the last few days, she has felt it's necessary to bring out every toy/thing/book and dump it in the floor. On this particular day, she brought it all to her room.
She is sitting in the basket cleaning her toy Minnie with a wipe.
Before falling asleep at naptime, she emptied her bed of all her stuffed animals and blanket.
The dress had a small hole in it on the ribbon on the waist. By the end of the day, the dress was practically in two. I ended up just throwing it away, not really thinking that she'd ask for it the next day (because she hasn't in the past with her Cinderella dress). WRONG. That was the first thing she talked about when I woke her up Sunday morning! And she mentioned it several times that day. So, I got on Amazon that day and found another one for almost as cheap as the garage sale find.

More Summer Fun

Since the roofers were supposed to be at our house on Friday, I decided I'd take SK to Chick-fil-A for cow appreciation day to get some free food. Katie came along with us since she didn't have to work.
Before church on Sunday, SK found just about every accessory she could--bracelet, rings, 2 necklaces, sunglasses, and bow to go with her Feltman Bros. dress.
I'd seen this idea on Pinterest so I thought I'd give it a try. Using marshmallows and toothpicks to build things. Sidney would put marshmallows on each end and then I'd do a little something more. I was surprised that she didn't just eat the marshmallows to start with...she had fun playing and then we ate them at the end :)
We also did a little fingerpainting that same day. After these dried, I traced her hand on the back, cut them out and then attached crepe paper between two hands so we could "mail a hug" to someone. We've already sent a couple out and have some left to send.
I started this a month or two ago. It was a plain bulletin board that I covered with fabric and placed tacks around the edges. It holds our running bibs and medals.
Then on Tuesday, my mom and I took Sidney to her first movie. During the summer, the Malco shows older movies in the morning a couple days a week for $2. We watched Madagascar 2. Of course, we had to get popcorn and a coke (popcorn and juice for SK). Between the three of us, that popcorn was GONE. After, we went to Chick-fil-A for a light lunch.

On Wednesday, SK went to BB's while I had a "me" day. I did a little shopping of my own before heading to Mommy's Secret Consignment Sale. On Thursday, City Drug had their big Sidewalk Sale. Friday night, I went to a Melaleuca party with a friend, Jennifer, while Bailey and Jennifer's husband, Jon, took the kids to Chick-fil-A.

This Week

William came to town on Monday and brought his girlfriend Regan and her son Dylan to visit. We had dinner at Windy City that night and then went to the zoo the next day. After dinner, we were working outside for a few minutes on the fence and Sidney Kate started practicing her latest trick--walking along the stones like a balance beam.
The weather was a little iffy but it turned out to be a decent day. There were a few stray sprinkles and it was kinda warm but if the sun was hidden behind the clouds it felt ok.
Sidney Kate had a ball checking out all the animals. She would hop back into her stroller between each animal. She also had fun trying to keep up Dylan who took pictures of each and every animal.
We finished up early and then had a late lunch at Avellino's.

4th of July

We had no real plans for the 4th until the day or so before. Bailey's parents suggested we go eat at Rendezvous and go to the Redbirds game. So, that's just what we did! Anna-Blair joined us too.
Sidney Kate had a big time watching the ball game along with all the people around us. She loves to watch baseball with her daddy.
Bailey bought an ice cream cone but he should have bought two. Sidney probably ate almost as much as Bailey did.
I wasn't too sure how Sidney would respond to the fireworks since we haven't seen any since the 4th last year. She was a little unsure at first but then seemed to really enjoy them. She kept talking about them going "boom."

Other June Happenings in Pics

The week between the wedding and Omaha was VBS. I taught the 2-3 year old class. It was lots of fun but also lots of WORK! This particular day was princess day if you can't tell :)
This was costume day. We went the easy way out and chose our Rebel cheerleader outfit.
My parents kept SK the first weekend while we were in Omaha and Bailey's parents kept her the rest of the week. Nonnie and G-daddy took her to swim lessons each day so we would get updates along with pictures each day.
Olivia stayed at our house and kept our dogs while we were gone. She tends to cook and experiment at our house while we're gone (which I am not complaining about). She made some mango popsicles and left us a few. SK loved them if you can't tell!
Mama and Sidney time. We watched Frozen that morning and then went for a drink at Sonic later that afternoon.
As I've mentioned before, Sidney LOVES having her fingernails painted. I always clip her toenails before I paint them. Recently, she picked up her little kitchen tongs and started "clipping" her nails. She is such a hoot with the things she comes up with! I love watching her imagination blossom!!
