Oh What a Night!

((Are you singing that song in your head yet???))

Yesterday was a looooong day. I had a professional development most of the day, followed by a SPED meeting and then "Meet the Teacher" night. Thankfully dinner had been prepped (and mostly cooked) the day before so Bailey just had to finish it up when he got home (and I just had to warm it up when I finally got in). I was able to sit and relax for a few minutes with Sidney and Bailey before we put her to bed. And then.....

(Warning: If you get nauseated easily and/or don't care for "bodily function" stories, or if you're about to eat, you may want to stop reading now.)

We put Sidney to bed like we do any other night. We haven't been putting her in pajamas, we just let her sleep in her diaper. Well, she had been playing, laughing, and talking to herself for a little while (which she often does). She got quiet for a few minutes and then was kind of fussy (this fussy was a little different than usual.) So, naturally, I go to check on her.

I get to her doorway and it hits me. She has a dirty diaper. But NO. Not JUST a dirty diaper. She has taken her diaper off and has been "playing." It was ALL over her sheet, blankets, Ruthie bear, and her crib. And she was covered in it, literally from head to toe! All I could do was laugh! I called Bailey and he could smell it as he came through the living room. He could just tell what had happened.

Naturally, as any good mother would do, I grabbed my phone and camera to snap a few pictures. (I'll spare you those.) Then we quickly got into cleaning mode. He gave her a couple baths while I tackled her bed. It took a little bit but we got everything, including Sidney, cleaned up. Then it was bedtime all-around. Oh what a night!!!

A Day in Our Life: Last Day of Summer (and prayers, please)

Sidney and I spent our final day of summer together doing a lot of nothing. (Bailey's been out of town this week at a class so he wasn't able to take in our fun). Here's my best attempt at documenting our day through iPhone pictures.....
We had another day of practice of waking up early so Sidney was up by 6:30. We ate breakfast then got started with our day.
We turned on Sprout and had lots of playtime. Here is Sidney after she's pulled off the magazines and coasters from the end table.
We may or may not have done a whole lot of this. She has had the slightest fever (teething, maybe?) so she was wanting to sit in Mama's lap a good bit. How could I resist??
We read some books.
Sidney did some walking with her walker.
 Taking her morning nap.
She woke up and was ready to go!!
Lunchtime: turkey and cheese sandwich with some potatoes.
Playing with her purse and getting ready for her post-nap errands.
 First stop: Sonic.
We enjoyed our last summer happy hour at Sonic with a sweet tea. Then we ran to Cotton Treasures for a quick visit with Chantay, Courtney, and Casey. Next we went to the bank.
Our next stop was Grandmother and Granddaddy's. Sidney took a little ride on Granddaddy's walker. Our last stop was Nonnie and G-daddy's for dinner (but I forgot a picture).
When we got home Sidney got a bath. Then we read our Bible story and went to bed.

I had such a sweet day with my baby girl. And I have truly had the sweetest summer with Bailey, Sidney, family, and friends but so excited for another school year!

On another note...please keep my sweet daddy in your prayers. He's had some trouble with his back/legs for some time and has recently been "diagnosed" with nerve disease of the lower back (basically, he's losing muscle, thus function, in his legs.) On top of all this, his red blood cell count has been high so on Monday morning he will be going for a bone marrow test. His exact words a few weeks ago, "Give it to God and go a day at a time,"  which is exactly what we will do.

A Little More Summer Fun (in iPhone Pics)

Here's a few pictures of our latest (low-key) summer happenings.
Playing outside while Daddy cuts the grass.
One morning last week it was a little cooler so we went over to the park to swing for a few minutes.
Sidney went to work with Daddy and apparently got her feelings hurt about something.
This is her new favorite place to play at Nonnie and G-daddy's.
I decided on a last minute whim to paint our bathroom (while Bailey was out of town). Sidney came right on in while I was taping off the baseboards and climbed up on the step-ladder.
Sidney and I ran up to my room at school for a few minutes the other day to do a couple of things. I think she enjoyed herself :)
Having a little fun while Mama is on the computer.
