Birthday Weekend

The Saturday following  SK's party our church was holding a churchwide work/service day. There were groups that were doing construction and painting. Another group was prayer walking while some made and delivered lunches. The children were to dress up and they went "trick-or-treating" for HOPE. They went house to house collecting canned goods for HOPE.
Bailey worked on one of the construction crews while I took SK trick or treating. She dressed up in her Cinderella gown to do so. It was such a special thing to do this, especially as part of her birthday weekend. Serving others is a huge thing we want to instill on her heart. We are incredibly blessed to be a part of a church that seeks these opportunities and helps us teach Sidney to do the same. Sidney jumped right in and tagged along with the big kids going up to the doors to collect food.

Here are the last pictures of Sidney Kate as a one year old. As you can see, she was really interested in having her picture made....full of herself.
On birthday morning, I made birthday cake pancakes with sprinkles and icing to go on top. They were pretty yummy! Sidney Kate really liked them too. We also made some sugar cookies with sprinkles for her to take to her friends at BB's. Happy Birthday do our beautiful little girl!

SK Turns Two

We held Sidney Kate's birthday party on the Friday night right before her birthday. I decided the "theme" of her birthday would be cows and pink. ((She got these two big animal books at Christmas that have become her favorites--the one with the cow on front in particular. She often asks for her "moo" book.)) I did my best to keep things fairly simple.
I got this super cute invitation on etsy. Her shirt came from Cody's Boutique. I was super pleased with the shirt. It looks just like it did online and was exactly what I wanted. I also bought her some pink ruffle leggings from Simplicity Couture (they were very cute but the ruffles started falling off the second time she wore them).
I made the cupcake stands from inexpensive clear plates and candle holders that I glued together and then spray painted white. I bought the cake stand before her party last year.
I made the cake and cupcakes. It was chocolate cake with buttercream icing and crushed oreos for the spots. (I used this recipe for the cupcakes and icing). Surprisingly, I actually found the "2" candle at Walmart!
I bought an "Old McDonald" book at the book fair at school and used it as the guestbook.
To makes things pretty easy on us, we decided to pick up Memphis BBQ to feed everyone. It was delicious as always!
The party was just family but even the "immediate" family is kinda big so there were gifts galore. Sidney enjoyed opening gifts and looking at everything she got. She got lots of goodies--clothes, water toys, two new dolls, a pearl added to her necklace, and various other things.
I'd say she was quite happy with the baby :)
A little photo op with Auntie Olivia and Uncle William
Some time after everyone left, I found her in her room reading her Bible to her baby...doesn't get much sweeter.

Easter

We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend celebrating the resurrection of our Savior. Didn't have any big plans, just Easter lunch at the Hunts.
Sidney got a few Easter goodies--a new hat, coloring book, crayons, some chalk, and a couple of board books. We tried to get a few pictures before church but she wasn't fully cooperative....
And then a few after Easter lunch. He is risen!

Wedding Showers and Parties

On the first Saturday in March, we had the church shower for Katie. Sidney enjoyed watching Katie open gifts, as well as helping her with bows.

Then that same evening, the Brewers hosted a dinner party in honor of Katie and Bedford.
Sidney was wiped out after such a busy day!
Then the first weekend in April, we had Katie's bachelorette party at the lakehouse of a friend of hers. It was such a relaxing weekend. We ate waaay too much and of course there was lots of girl-talk. We attempted a ride on the boat but it was pretty chilly. That Sunday afternoon we finished the weekend with Katie's church shower in Greenwood. Once again, Sidney enjoyed helping Katie with her gifts.
She dropped cookie crumbs and insisted on cleaning them up.
Didn't take long for her to pass out on the way home.
