The Last Month or So....

Here's a quick recap of what's been happening with the Hunt's in the last month or so......

We went to the Ole Miss-Auburn game in Oxford and actually tailgated (the only time this season).

The next weekend we made a trip to Tunica to Paula Dean's Buffet for Kerry's birthday. We went on a Friday night so they had seafood too. Needless to say, we ate waaaay too much.

The next morning we got up early to head to Jackson to see Anna-Blair run in the state cross country meet. Then we came straight home and got ready to go to a wedding. Of course, I do not have a picture of us at/or before the wedding. The following photo is courtesy of Mrs. Connie.

The next weekend Bailey and I drove to Knoxville to watch the Ole Miss-Tennesse game. The game was awful, to say the least, but it was a fun trip.

The stadium is right next to the river. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. (As opposed to the other two away games we've been to when it was raining the whole time). 

 And then of course there was Thanksgiving break, which was thoroughly enjoyable. I didn't do too much of anything. I did, however, get a much needed haircut and I got carpet in my room. And, of course, I spent Black Friday shopping til I dropped.

Trip to Fayetteville

A couple weekends ago Bailey, his dad, Katie (Bedford's girlfriend), and I all made a trip to Fayetteville for the Ole Miss game. Although the outcome of the game wasn't what we hoped for, the trip was enjoyable.

We left Friday and drove to Dardanelle (with a quick stop in Conway--my grad-school stomping ground) to stay with Grandma and Papa Dean (Bailey's grandparents). We sat around and visited for most of the evening but got out for a quick tour around town and to see the Dardanelle Sand Lizards game. As Bailey and his dad finished the tour, we came upon this sign.....

They are clearly excited about this new ice--that's small town life for you. I wish I would have been as camera-ready as I was last year on our trip to Auburn.

We got up early Saturday morning to make the two hour drive to Fayetteville. 

Once we got to Fayetteville, we tailgated a little bit and walked around campus before heading to the game.

On a side note: Arkansas may be my least favorite SEC team, or any team, period. Why? EVERYONE in Arkansas is a Razorback fan....or so it appears. Arkansas is their primary state university, as opposed to Mississippi, we have Ole Miss, State, and Southern.....So, everyone is a Hog fan and as a result that ugly thing is everywhere. I truly grew to dislike looking at this thing while living in Conway.

Everyone had to evacuate to the "concourse" or had the option to leave the stadium completely. It was a bit crowded.

And we're back in action, but only temporarily before we have to evacuate for another delay which was only about 30 minutes.

Unfortunately the game did not turn out in our favor, but we enjoyed spending time with family and the trip in general. 

Catching Up....

For those of you that have noticed, I've taken another, unexpected, break from blogging. But recent events (and prompting by a few friends) have inspired to get back into this thing (or at least write this one). I apologize in advance for the randomness of what I'm about to write.

Not a whole lot has occurred since my last blog. It's football season so that means either heading to Oxford or spending Saturdays in front of the TV. There have been a few exceptions--a party/shower for a friend of Bailey's and a wedding reception for the same friend. Both of which Bailey was able to catch up with a lot of college friends (especially his friend Bud, who told me he better be mentioned in the next blog--so, here's to you, Bud).

This past weekend I attended a shower for my best friends from high school's brother & fiance. (Was that clear?) It was great seeing and catching up with Kara, Julia, and Sarah.

And now for the randomness.....
     I'm considering keeping a book for all the things Bailey says/does that are moments when I think (or I say), "Did he really just say/do that?" "What was he thinking?" "Is that really my husband?"
     For example, about a week ago I learned something new about Bailey--he has a small sensory issue with cotton balls. For some odd reason, he doesn't like to touch them because of the way they feel.
     I have two more examples that I experienced today while we were out shopping (and it was actually his idea to go shopping today, not mine). The first occurred while at Kohl's. I was looking at some clothes and Bailey asks, "Is that Lauren from the Hills/Laguna Beach?" That's when the thought occurred to start writing these things down.
     The next one occurred when we were at the mall. Since we've been married, Bailey has begun watching several of "my" shows. One being Desperate Housewives. We really like all the characters on the show but Gabby's daughter, Juanita, is probably one of our favorites. While walking through the mall, we saw a young couple in front of us with a toddler. Bailey pulled me aside and said, "Is it just me, or did that girl remind you of Juanita?" I was thinking it the whole time but he actually said it.
     That's enough of my embarrassing Bailey stories.....for now.

For the past few weeks Wrigley and I have been going to "school." Northwest's continuing ed program offered a basic dog obedience class for six weeks. I thought it would be a good idea to take Wrigley. She has done really well and she graduates next week.

That's what's been happening with the Hunt's. What we're looking forward to in the coming weeks/month: I will be catching up with my grad school girls, we'll be travelling to the Ole Miss/Arkansas game with Bailey's dad and brother's girlfriend, a wedding, and more Ole Miss games. Hopefully my next blog will be before Christmas break.

Our Trip to Auburn

Bailey's brother, Bedford, is a manager for the Ole Miss football team and gets two tickets to each game, home and away. So, a little while back, Bailey and I decided we would go to the Auburn game. Although the outcome of the game wasn't too pretty, we really enjoyed our trip. Here's a recap of the trip....

We left Friday morning amidst all the rain. We detoured to Oxford to pick up a few things and then got on the road again. We stopped in Tupelo to eat lunch at Abner's and then continued on. Luckily, we didn't really have any rain after leaving Oxford. However, we ran into A LOT of traffic in Birmingham. It took us AT LEAST an hour to get through Birmingham, probably longer. As we sat in stop-and-go traffic we tried to keep ourselves entertained. Here are a few pictures of the things we encountered while in this traffic.

This Alabama tag is dedicated to farmers (like a Choose Life, college , wildlife tag, etc.) If you can't see it very well, the top reads, "FARMING FEEDS" and this particular driver's name must be Bill. So, if you read it altogether it states, "Farming feeds Bill." We found it amusing.

Here's the Pink Package Store. We just thought it was picture-worthy. In the parking lot beside it was a Crown Royal race car.

This is a Sonic with a playground. The first one I'd ever seen. (We also saw a Sonic with a playground when we stopped in Fulton on the way home.)

We also saw a baby blue Escalade but I didn't have the camera ready. There were probably a few other things, but these were the most memorable.

We got to our hotel later that evening. We stayed outside of Auburn in the town community of Valley. It consisted of two hotels, a fireworks store, two gas stations, about three places to eat, and a football stadium. Needless to say, we didn't have many options on where to eat dinner, so we ate at Waffle House. It was good, just not exactly what we wanted.

When we checked in we found out that we were in the Eastern time zone. Well, approximately a mile into it. It was a bit confusing but we just kept ourselves on Central time since Auburn is.

Saturday we got up, ate breakfast, and headed to campus. We got there easily and found parking easily (for free, too--it was $30 across the street) and relatively close to the stadium. We walked around for a bit and then talked to Bedford for a few minutes before heading into the stadium.

This is Jevan Sneed's dad (our quarterback) and a few of his friends. Got to love the rain-covers for the cowboy hats. The state troopers and other officers also had these lovely covers on.

I won't go into details about the game. It had it's ups and downs, but not a good ending. We did get to see a really cool Auburn ritual--where they release the eagle and he flies down to the field. I tried taking a few pictures of it but they didn't turn out well.

After the game we saw another ritual of Auburn's. After every win, they roll an area of campus called Toomer's Corner. Here's a not so great picture of it.

We headed to Chili's (our favorite) to eat and warm up and then headed back to the hotel to relax and watch more football. Sunday morning we made a quick stop at Starbucks and Target before heading home. The trip home was not as eventful as the trip there. All-in-all, a very enjoyable trip with my wonderful husband!
